Thoughts from the under-belly of..um...er..the belly?

Things have been weird having the days off we have. It has thrown our schedules out of whack!! Nyree went back to work this past week for a day and a half. Then this next week, because of the new year, she will have Tuesday off but goes back on Wed. Just strange.

We stayed up last night until 6 in the morning to watch the Pats-Giants game. The Pats were going for the first undefeated season since the '72 Dolphins. They won 38-35. It really looked like the pats were gonna blow it, but the Giants managed to snatch defeat form the jaws of victory!!! It was neat that Nyree stayed up for the game. Well she actually went to sleep then woke up at 230 for the game.

I finally get to have a hair cut today!! That is if Angela decides to show up to volleyball. She has been out of town on vacation and my hair shows it!!! I really don't mind the length so much as the curling around the ears and such. I really just want it off the ears.

I have been going to the driving range the past couple of weeks. Thanks to John I am able to do some gardening with the rest!!! John gave me an extra set of clubs before I left and am grateful. The first time we went out the guys were a bit ambitious I think. We ordered 3 bucket of balls and MAN did I pay for that!!! My right hamstring was tender to the touch for a week after because it was so sore!! Man that was pain. Of course it was the first time I have been to a course, let alone a range, in at least 5 years. It was also nice to see that my nasty slice I have always had travels well. It made it all the way here to Africa!! But once I got that straightened out I was surprised at how well I was striking the ball. I was getting the driver to go about 250M or about 280 yards. Not bad for being out of it so long.

Nyree says she hates our neighbors dog. That is interesting on one level because it is a pug. A dog that she loves. On the other hand it is a little jerk and a wild dog because they let it run free. We still haven't figured out how to tell them they need to leash their dog. Not to mention those people think the pool is their own private babysitter for their kids. OK I am starting to sound like a bitter recluse.....LOL.

Nyree just said that maybe she wants to be a vet. I looked at her funny. She wants me to erase this but I wont. I think it is a funny blurb.

Our friends Rob and Bridget have the pics from the golf course. When I finally get her to email me the pic I will post it.

I get to get started on getting the commissary and gym up and running now that the holidays are over. Man that was a lot of "get" Anyway, lot's of people have been gone for vacations and the days off have made it hard to get anything done. I mainly just shelved the projects until they are over. Well they are over so I will keep you all up to date on progress. The funny thing about it is I never used to be such a go getter about these sorta things. But here (ESPECIALLY HERE!!!) I think it is important for people to REALLY try and make it better. At least try to leave it in a little better shape then when we got here.

I guess that's all my little mind can conjure.

Merry Christmas from "The 'Buj"

Nyree and I thought we would post a picture of us at the pool for Christmas. We took it today while we had our buildings "Christmas Dinner" at 3 in the afternoon. It was dusty as usual since it is now the Harmmatan. In all the pictures you will see a slight haze. It is actually worse in person than what the pictures show.

We deep fried a 20# turkey and had some potatoes, corn, spinach and I made some tea. It was nice and a bit unorganized. But that is OK.

Nyree and I have had a VERY busy schedule the past few days. She has had off from work since last Thurs. and we have been going to parties and functions every day or night. It is really getting a bit tiring. But it is nice to be distracted from the fact that we aren't at home with you all. We do miss you all alot.

So here are some more pics from the day. Just a couple for you to see where we swim at least. All the toys are the kids of the Italians that live in the other building. They are real pains. Anyway, here they are. Also a couple of the dog Nyree would like me to post I am sure......

The other side of the first pic.

If you turned around from the last pic this is what is behind us.

If you look a bit to the right form the last pic this is the view.

Just another view from the back.

Here is a picture of our Christmas tree:

And now a couple of the dog......

WHAT A STUD!!!!

Who is that stud of a quarterback???? Why it is me of course!! Eat your heart out Peyton Manning!!
In all seriousness this is one of the couple of pics that were taken by a friend at the football game. That is Dan running with his hand up I am about to throw to. It was really neat to see this because it was a bomb of a touchdown pass. One of the few really good ones I threw.
I also just wanted to try and upload a pic this way to see if it worked out. Well as you can see....it did.
Nyree and I really appreciate all the messages we got after posting this. It really does the heart good. Things have been tough lately for the both of us. Missing everyone for the holidays and things getting screwy around here. As they only seem to do in Nigeria. From what I am told anyway.
Things have started getting busy for me as well. I have got my hands full with this AERAA board thing. It is a "T" total mess!! But hopefully we can get things straightened out in the next few months. I am also applying for the CLO (Community Liaison Officer) position that has just come available. If I could get that things would get really busy. That position is mainly the one that handles all the fund raisers and social parties and stuff. Mainly what Nyree was doing in her professional life before this!! Weird how that happens??!!
In lighter news:
I won a huge $100 bet this past week. It had to be one of the easiest bets I have ever won! I am not bragging mind you but, I was told that the band R.E.M. was from England. Being a good Georgia boy (not really an rem fan) I had to stick up for my boys from Athens!! It was a bet made over too many margaritas of course and it was too easy!!
Other than that it is week # whatever and we are still here. In a few weeks it will be 6 months. We are almost to the quarter marker and we are surviving. Nyree and I have also made a Christmas/care package wish list on amazon. It is mainly food items and things for the house that we could use. By no means is this an advertisement but in case anyone was wondering what to send. If you want to it is there, if not you don't have to.
So there is the link.....it is under Nyree's name.
I will try to get more pictures up on the site over the next few days. If anyone has any interest in coming here next year my mom is looking into it. It would be really cool if my bros and everyone could come. Really miss everyone and miss the fun!!!!
Well that's about it for this post. That is all.............
