Nyree has been very busy and unable to keep up her blog so I decided to make one myself. This blog will go into anything and everything I think. So keep up!
This past Sat. was the Turkey bowl football tourney. There were 4 teams for flag football and my team came in 3rd. That isn't saying much but it was better than last! There was a strangely large number of left hamstring pulls there too. About 4-5 guys went down with left hammies. Strange. Also LOTS of guys got tons of carpet burns and scrapes. There was a few broken toes and 2 ankle sprains. Other than that it was a fun time! I didn't escape without my own scraps and bruises but nothing like my spill in rugby.
Thanksgiving was fun but subdued. Nyree and I went to Al Basha, a Lebanese restaurant. We just had a bunch of appetizers and spent more money than they were worth. It was nice though and we had a good time.
Later that evening we had Rob and Bridget , and Allen and Liz, over for dessert and drinks. All in all it was a nice Holiday and was fun.
This past weekend was exciting, of sorts, for other reasons as well. The power kept going out and we were without water off and on. Makes for a fun day after football sitting in your own sweat and filth, unable to take a shower, and not cooling off because the power is off. Then the Internet was down a good bit. Off and on and then down for hours. Needless to say, it is the old status quo around here.
On Monday I went in to the American school for an interview of sorts. Well at least "I think it was an interview. I talked with the current PE teacher and might come on as a sub for when he is out. Caleed (the PE teacher) teaches the higher grades. Starting from grades 6-12. There is another teacher that teaches the lower grades. The funny thing is I kinda got the impression that they maybe making a change soon. I don't want to go into too much detail but I might have a bigger role there before too long. That would be GREAT!! Almost a dream come true. Teach sports and coach and get paid??!! What more could I ask for??!!
I have also joined the AERAA board. It is the employee association board here. I hope it is going to be something that I can really make a difference in. The big goals for me right now are to try and help get a commissary here and better Internet. We will see. I have been made vice chairman, but I think it is more in title only. I have never been apart of a board before and I hope it isn't just a bunch of talking. I kinda like to get things done!!
Well I think this is a good start. I think I will try to update this as close to weekly as possible.
Til then,
Eric

Hey Eric,
Thanks for keeping us informed. It's fun to hear what you guys are doing, and I hope you get that dream job. You'd be perfect. That's also very cool that you have become a board member and I will look forward to hearing about the differences you make.
Hello to Nyree. Jack and I miss you guys.

WOW Enrique...make a difference MAN!!! You would be a great teacher. If you need any pointers..I'll be more than happy to help (especially since that is my age group). I know you stated that you are intersted in "subbing" but, if you do it long enough...you could grow to like it and want to teach as a career. WOUld you be teaching with the DODDS system? Well...I'll wait for your response before I start cheering for the next teacher in the family!:) That last statement you made about "getting things done" made me laugh. That is such a Thompson trait (a good trait) but, it made me laugh. I felt like I was listening (reading) to you dad and Ryan. LOL! Well mi amigo...continue being PRO-ACTIVE, and God Bless! PLEASE Send hugs and kisses Nyree's way too. ~ Essie
Wow cous! Weird life huh? Keeps you on your toes when you have to keep checking for hot water doesn't it?
Of course you're in the mix, what else would you be? Cannot imagine you on the sidelines, besides that civic passion has to get out somehow. I'm thrilled for you that you're keeping busy and enjoying (kinda) seeing the world too. That's wonderful.
Take care of yourselves, we all send our love.
Molly
